Wood Floor Installation, Sanding & Finishing
Gate Hardwood Floors offers custom hardwood floor installation, sanding and finishing in Orange County, CA. We specialize in residential homes while also servicing commercial hardwood flooring projects. Wood floors are ideal for any space, bringing both warmth and beauty to any d├ęcor today. The men that work for us are talented craftsmen with many years of hardwood flooring experience to draw from, striving for perfection in each floor created, every project completed. Yet before any of this work takes place, we take the time to both educate and guide our customers in the various nuances of hardwood floors such as sub straights, moisture and sun exposure before even going over all of the different options in selecting the right floor for you, and the maintenance that will be needed.

The process
We will walk you through the process, outlining the schedule for the new wood floor installation and/or refinishing in order for things to go as smoothly as possible through out the process. We will go over all of the options, explain what it is we will be responsible for and those things in which we will not be.

1) Initial job walk, obtaining information on the look and function of the wood floor desired
2) Making and/or preparing sample/s for selection and approval
3) Contract submission and approval, work schedule, progress payment schedule
4) Sub straight preparation (furniture moving, masking off, existing floor covering removal and disposal, leveling, sealing, etc.)
5) Wood floor delivery & acclimation
6) Wood floor & stair installation
7) Wood floor sanding & finishing
8) Wood floor & stair protection
9) Furniture placement
10) Wood floor cleaning & scheduled maintenance

With homes that have existing floor coverings it is not possible for us to accurately assess the sub straight beneath, how flat or level it may or may not be. Quite often a change order will be needed in order for us to do any additional leveling or grinding to get the sub straight within the industry standard prior to wood floor installation. This is a very important step in the process, for a successful hardwood floor installation. Please refer to our “sub-floors” page for additional information on this.

Another very important step in the process is the inspection of the wood flooring itself once it has been delivered to determine weather or not this is the correct floor and color. Samples may very slightly and not give the most accurate depiction of your floor due to wood being a natural product with the potential of stark contrast in variation from one board to the next. If there is something that you do not like about the floor or a particular board, the time to discuss these things is before the floor is installed and/or sanded and finished.
